Artist and painter John Roger Almond. Born in England in 1939, grew up in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil and Orinda, California. Graduated San Jose State with a Bachelor of Arts. Served in the USMC Reserves. With Elio Benvenuto, started and served as curator of the San Francisco Art Commission “Capricorn Asunder” Gallery on Grove Street, and worked on the SF Arts Festival until 1979. He is also listed in Who’s Who In American Art and his works have been shown at both the Legion of Honor and Oakland Museum.
In 2006, he participated in Re-Show at the SomArts building in San Francisco showing work by 70 other artists who worked in the south of Market from 1960-1980.
In recent years, he had a studio and shows at The Coal Shed on Mare Island near Vallejo with a group of other artists.
